This is a new one for me.My rear compartment door won't open(from outside or inside).Always worked before.Tried using key in outside lock but key won't even go in.All four door locks work(open and close) but rear hatch(when you pull on latch it feels like it is locked). Is there any obvious switch that I may have hit(or worse yet my wife had just driven to landscape shop and it hasn't worked since).I did search(maybe my wording or description wasn't accurate) but no match came up.Surely,I'm not the only LR owner to have rear door/latch malfuction.Help.Thanks.

i have to use the key to get in from the outside, turn the key to unlock position & pull handle while holding the key turned

if yer inside, you have to pull the lock tab up while pulling the latch

you could find it in the search tho too, but i'm bored.

hope it helps ya...

At your mom's
This is an extremely complicated process so pay attention:

Pry off the green oval.
Push the lever forward past the click.
Open door in usual manner.
Conduct your business.
Powerwash and lubricate the works.
Replace green oval.

I had that problem. All I had to do is get a screwdriver and pry the handle back down. The handle would keep getting stuck lubed it up works great ever since.

Awesom, thanks Steve.Sounds like something I ought to be able to do.I re-worded my "search" attempt and was reading through the 500 various scenario's that I probably couldn't do.Thanks again.

+1. I am too lazy to replace the broken spring in the lock.

Per my original post-the key does not go in(all I received when I acquired vehicle was the ignition key).Which has not been an issue since it controlled all(door) locks(except evidently rear compartment door).Didn't ever have reason to investigate it working in rear compartment door(until now).I am digging into the problem tonight. Thanks for all support. Was hoping my wife had pushed(remote lock or something I wasn't familiar with) but apparently not the case so I can't blame her.

sounds like a corrosion issue for the key not working. [or changed lock possably]
does the handle move?
Does the button go up when unlocking?
Yeah, key only goes in about quarter inch(no teeth engagement)(lock could have been changed and I didn't know enough about vehicle to question )(actually had never even notced that there was outside lock capability). Before, whenever I unlocked vehicle the back unlocked as well so never had reason. The lock does goes up and down(when I lock vehicle it goes down and vice versa .The outside handle feels as if it would while locked.Actually, inside latch does as well(even pulled on latch while ulnocking).Taking to shop tomorrow for oil change and check leak(always leaking something!) and will have them fix it.Thanks again.

Update-Not that anyone cares but got in Rover to take to shop(to repair rear compartment door release and some other minor stuff)and after 2 days of trying every suggested quick fix(with no results) I pulled on handle and it opened.I think the Disco is f#&*%$g with me!Works perfectly.I locked,unlocked-open /shut multi times this morning and no problems.Must have something to do(malfunction) central locking. While I am glad it is working again, almost rather determined what caused and fix it.Now it could happen again(at in opportune time). Thanks again for suggestions.
