Rear Ladder Differences?

I picked up a SD rack recently and want to get the matching ladder. I have seen several at different prices on the web. Genuine versions for about $200 to the ones sold by Atlantic British for $100. What is the difference between models and do all ladders fit both the D1 and D2 with the same fit quality? Trying to figure out why some ladders are twice as expensive... is the quality superior?

Thanks!

northwestparts isn't selling anything right now.. and after the way they acted on here, I wouldn't buy anything else from them.. . that being said, there are generally two types of ladders, ones with square rungs (genuine has them), and ones with tubes for the rungs (NWP makes those) .. I think AB, etc.. all have the square ones, so they are very similar to the genuine. I don't really know if there is any superiority in them.. the mounting should be similiar.. some use rivnuts, some use rivets.. The biggest difference I could think of would be how well the powdercoat holds up.

You may want to try going to your dealer and asking about them.. A year or so ago, it was going around that they were trying to get rid of them and selling them off real cheap.

The one I bought from AB is rusting a mere 2 months after putting it on.

Now I'm going to have to refinish it.

(I bought the less expensive one.)

Thanks guys for the help and the recommendation to contact the dealer (actually the last place that came to mind for me as I assumed incorrectly they would be more expensive).

Now, next step... install... anything in particular I need to watch for or do that is not listed in the instructions when installing?

I have never seen the instructions, but take care when drilling into your rear door by your license plate. If you drill into the wrong place it could damage you lock mechanism.

Thanks for the heads up... I searched and found a thread on installing...mixed bag of opinions on it... when I pick up the ladder from the dealer I will ask if they will install at .5 hr labor rate (few said it should only take 30 mins) then I'll get them to do it... by the time I get the rivet gun or use a different method... that time invovled plus with my lack of skill, I might as well just get them to do it since they've likely done a few before...
