If you offroad with large tires you will usually end up ripping them off.
I would imagine there would be 4 screw/nuts holding them on.

Some states require you to keep them if it came with them... but although they don't look cool, it's nice to keep them to be nice to the people who drive behind you.

people have stated that you will get worse mileage, bad oil leaks will occur and even loss of traction while wheeling if they are removed. i even heard a case where some dude got a rash.
i dunno. i wouldn't risk it. i'd keep 'em on. i like the looks of them anyhow. i think one or two of my trucks still has them.

I just cut mine off with a utility knife. Much easier than trying to get the rivets out.

I did the same after one popped off while wheeling back when my D2 was totally stock.
I had to even it out....

One could use a Dremel and cut the head off the rivet thing if one wanted to remove them.

Get a small cold chisel from your local hardware store....wait a minute, we own rovers, we must already have cold chisels. It is easy enough to cut to head off the rivet with a cold chisel and the backs fall out. Drilling takes too long, and a dremel is too civilized and violates the "use a hammer whenever possible" rover maintenance guide.

I don't think GA requires them, but we don't have vehicle safety inspections so it probably doesn't matter. When I lived in VT you were required to have them even if they didn't come that way. I had to put a pair on my Airportable when I lived there.

I'm glad someone has taken up the myth of the mudflap in KVTs absence.
