Hey Mr. Turrets of the finger... do you mean the "alpine" windows window seal. That SOB needs a special seal tool to reinsert the seal spline.

my suggestion is to call a local window guy and fork over a few bucks to have a pro with the right tools do it. That job truly sucks.

I've had mine out a few times and I never used the 'special tool'. Just left the seal out in the sun to warm it up and make it nice and flexible, used something to lubricate the rubber band that stretches the seal that holds the window in and I gently use a larger flat blade screw driver to help guide that piece back in place. Works every time. Just need some patience.

What ! Couln't get you the first trillion times you posted, could you repeat yourself again please.

P.S : I needed to replace me alpine window after it got busted in a hail storm ! ( Imagine that a hail storm here !!! ) Didn't need any special tools at all, but after an hour of trying it wasn't going in only later realised hadn't removed the seal of the old one :ack:

Once that was removed it went in like a charm, although felt like an idiot from dismantling the entire disco from inside, it was the side where the Alpine window also doubles as a duct for the rear AC.

You have to insert the rubber seal in the glass, then insert a cord inside the seal lips from outside perimeter, put them onto the position in your Disco and while a friend push the glass, you pull the cord making the seal lip taking its proper position.

I recently replaced all the rear glass, as well as the sunroofs and headliner on my '95 D1. I used the cord trick (keeping the locking rubber piece 'in' the window rubber) on one of the alpine windows (as well as the back glass and rear quarter windows). On the other alpine window I tried using a soapy solution and carefully used a flat bladed screwdriver to get the locking piece into its channel. I had the window installed in a matter of 5 minutes using the screwdriver method.

That's it. I'm putting you on my list of people useful on a desert island.
