Rear Washer

My rear washer doesn't work. The motor sounds fine, and I've cleared the jet, but nothing. After several attempts, I noticed washer fluid leaking from behind the reservoir. I can't seem to figure out how to get the reservoir out to take a look, though. Some help with that would be much appreciated.

I've read that the problem could be a rotted check valve, so I did a parts search. The only one I can find is at Atlantic Brittish (Item DCP6656), but that refers to the headlight washers (which work fine). Is there another one which handles the rear washer? Anyone know where I might fine one?

Removal

On the w/wsh bucket there are two bolts at the bulk head (fire wall) remove them now down below rear of bucket almost under it there are two phillips screws that attach to the wheel well need a real long screw driver to remove these. There you will find the other check valve also. Yoy may find the bucket cracked...common or the pump leaks also common. I have a used valve if you need it shouldnt say used almost new till the eng fragged. Or the whole thing what ever you need.

Wow, you weren't joking about needing a really long screwdriver! I found the two screws, but couldn't reach em with a 14" driver. I'll see if I can pick up something longer, then I'll let you know what parts I need.

Had the same issue on my '97 Disco... $10 at the dealership for a new one way check valve and I installed it in about 5 minutes.

Of course I didn't remove anything, just climbed up on top of the engine area and pulled the old one, cut the new hose to length and installed.

I've replaced several without removing the reservoir, but some are harder than others.

Just switched mine out. I went to a Bob who own's a british car shop here in town and he didn't have the check valves for the disco but did have one for a Jag that was a little beefier and works just great. Oh and FWIW my bottom screws were rusted and one broke when trying to remove it. I replaced it with some oil coated screws to hopfully avoid the rusting in the future, we'll see how that goes.

Well I bought a longer screwdriver this weekend. It's almost too long - had to have my son hold the hood as far open as it will go to get it in there... those screws are a pain to get to! But I still can't get them out, they must be rusted in. Is there some sort of solvent I can squirt in there that would help? I don't see any way to get to the valve on mine without removing the tank.
