What are you cutting? The Dewalt is a nice model. Depending on what you want to cut there are likely better options.

Mid Mo.
I use the Dewalt one with great success. I dont use it a lot per say as I normally just grab the plasma cutter, but when it gets used, it gets used hard;)
Never let me down, and has cut through everything I haev shown it. One thing though, dont be tempted by the cheap blades. Get the quality blades in the size you need instead of a pack of mixed ones.

First project is cutting out my rotted sills finally and cutting rectangular tubing that is 1/8" thick.

You'll likely get better results with a mini grinder and cut-off wheels for both of those applications. The sawzall will certainly cut both but not very clean.

X2 on the good sawzall blades. I use fire and rescue blades when I can find them.

I have a grinder but it scares the shit out of me. Was thinking I could get a straighter cut with a sawzall and then clean it up with the grinder.

I've what looks like some good deals on Milwaukees & Dewalts in the 10-11 amp range.
Does blade stroke make huge difference? Say 1 1/8" compared to only 3/4".

i have porter cable cordless and corded. the corded one for almost 10 years now and its beat to hell andstill works great. but they are only as good as the blade. i like milwaukee blades, blade length makes a difference because usually the part that dulls first is right at the guard/pad, i would say longer stroke will help blade life and cut faster but may be harder to control on small stuff
