As the title states, I am exploring the idea of doing a TD5 or LS swap with a manual tranny in a D2. I've been reading about the work and it's not so easy as the 300tdi D1 setup. I'm looking for any strong recommendations for established shops in the US that I can speak with. TIA

If you go the LS route, I know of a manual 6.0 LS D2 getting finished up currently that used a partial Alternative Conversion engineering kit for the mounts, accessories, and electrical bits along with a DCS LT230 adapter for the NV4500 transmission. I believe the owner did the swap himself though.

Another option would be a similar setup with an LR R380 manual adapted to LS. R380 may be a little bit weaker though.

When we lived in Brazil the standard set up for a D2 was the TD5 with an auto box. Pretty sure offered in ROW Countries with a manual. Would think all the parts would be available and drop in yet sounds like you’ve done the research.
I’d give Taylor Congelton a call. He has done work on my RRC plus D1 and highly recommend his shop. On vaca now yet should be back after New Years.
