Recovery points

So... if you guys read my other thread on not using the stock bumper for recovery, you'll understand why this one is neccessary :)

What would you recommend I use for a recovery point?

I'm looking for something that's relatively inexpensive. I plan to get an RTE slimline bumper with the built in recovery point, so I'm looking for something either inexpensive or something that can be used or moved to function in addition to the RTE point.

I've found black tow hooks rated at 10k lbs working load, for like $5-7 at tractor supply and at various auto parts stores. They look similiar to the stock points on a jeep grand cherokee. Anyone tried using something like this?

Why are you getting recovery points in addition to the bumper?

Not sure if your looking to have a front recovery point in addition to a new bumper or something in the interim before you get your new bumper. Use JATE rings that attach to the frame for front recovery (don't really need if you get a descent bumper). For rear, use receiver shackle in your class III hitch.

I just want something to use until I can get the bumper. That's why I'm not sure if I want to spend $45 each on jate rings.

first I gotta find the cable for my digital camera. I'm moving, so I'm either bound to lose it or bound to find it -- one or the other

It's not completely half-off, but I did stretch the crush can a good inch or so. I "fixed" it by easing it into a tree, lol.... that was I didn't have a 2 foot spike on my front end
