Has anyone had an Optima that has lasted longer than 2 years?

I am going to be on my 3rd once my wife takes it in to get it changed out, didnt have it for a year and a half before it decided to stop taking a charge.

What other no maint batteries are out there that seem to be worth a shit?

Thanks

For D1/RRC:
DieHard Marine Platinum PM-2 (size 34m) - 880 CCA / 135 min. RC

For D2/P38/Defender:
DieHard Marine Platinum PM-1 (size 31m) - 1150 CCA / 205 min RC

The Sears DieHards are rebadged Odysseys, the only difference is they are different colors, have a different label, the second +/- posts are on the tops (nice), and their specs are actually slightly better then the regular Odysseys. Plus they are way cheaper and every sears stocks them...

My Optima was three years old when I put it in my 81 chevy truck. Prior to that it had run part of a stereo in my 87 Dually (Optima didn't have deep cycle batteries when I first got them), then sat in a garage for a while. It ran my truck for three years after that. I sold the truck with the battery.

I originally bought an Exide instead, it died after about a year.... had a 3-year replacement on it, took it back to the shop... they'd quit carrying them, gave me a red-top Optima instead.... w/ a new 3-year replacement warranty on it. Only had it a few months as-of-yet, time will tell how it does.....

Optima batteries started out as a good quality product but from my experience there have been some bumps in the road. Optima was a Colorado company until the mid-90's when they went through two owners. Johnson Controls now owns them.

The Optimas I bought in the last 3-4 years have sucked. For the money you should get 5 years minimum. I got maybe 2-3 years. Switched to Exide Orbital and so far I'm happy with them.

optima's dont like to sit...if you have them in a daily driver they do ok but if the car sits for a week at a time it will shit the bed in short order.

I will never own one again.

Just put one in my 90 this summer. Seemed to be working fine most of the summer. Went to start her up last week after it had been sitting for about 2-3 weeks and it was totally dead...what a PITA it is to jump start a 90...I thought the red top would save me from having to do this all the time but I guess not.
