You could always try an Eberspacher or a Webasto
These can be preprogrammed, started via remote or even SMS.
Much better than leaving your engine running to warm up!!!!!!!

I had an Eberspacher in a D110 with a 300Tdi engine and if I went back to a diesel engine wouldnt be without one!

Running it for 10 or 15 minutes is hell on a vehicle, especially a Rover because they run so rich and are prome to carboning up. I would suggest you come up with a better idea.

What are you saying, that I must be a puss if I get cold in Virginia?? Its probably true, but I am more concerned with not having to waste 10 or 15 minutes defrosting/de-icing my car before I roll out in the morning.

I'm just giving you a hard time.
There's those few -10 degree mornings where a remote starter would come in handy.
Where in VA are you?

Any idea how much one of these systems would cost? I couldn't find any good pricing info on their websites.

I am in Fredericksburg. It's not that cold on most mornings, but there are a few where it would be nice to climb into an already defrosted, warm car.

With the cold coming on soon, I was wondering if anyone is running a remote starter for their disco? Mixing one with the existing electronics is probably a recipie for trouble, but I figured I would ask.

I've installed them in a some of my other vehicles (civic,240sx & cherokee), and a few family members vehicles (accord, civic) before. I did install one in my 97 DI, and it was quite a pain compared to all of the others, but it worked. No way in hell I'd attempt it with my DII... too much factory alarm crap to bypass.

I think I'm going to put one in my 88 RRC in the next few weeks. :)

You'll have to join us sometime in the GWNF. I'm currently searching for some little known and or forgotten trails.
Send me an e-mail sometime if you want to go out. I'm goint to go exploring this weekend with Flippedrover if you're interested.

I wish I could join you, but unfortunately I have to knock out some yard work that I have been putting off. I will definately join you in the future. The only thing that we have run up there is Peters Mill, and it was kind of weak. I would love to check some other stuff out.

I did Peter's mill last August. To groomed for me.
Have you tried Tasker's Gap? Since they're together I'll bet they run the grader over that one too.
I hate it when the forest service takes care of trails.

I have the DeLorme VA. Gazeteer. I plan on ordering some maps from topozone.com. They will custom print maps of the areas you are interseted in for $14.95 for a 24"x36" map. Pretty good deal I think. Check the site out when you get a chance, it's pretty cool.
The forest service conveniently doesn't show trails that they don't want traffic on. They're printed by National Geographic.

It is not good to start a car and let it idle for more than a very few minutes before driving off. You will reduce the engine life. Use an ice scraper. Or a tarp over the windows.

So its better to start up the car and drive right away? even if its freezing out? I don't care too much about me being cold, but I just want to know the very best thing for my truck.
