Remove Factory CD Changer

I want to thank everyone who puts personal time into giving valuable info to others. Knowledgeable people make these kinds of environments extremely helpful.

I also know that good etiquette dictates that I search for my answer before I post a new thread. I have spent some time and have not found the answer I am looking for.

I want to remove my factory CD Changer (01 D2, non-hk) and use the space to house an amp for my subs. Does anyone have any idea how much room I would free up and how to remove the changer such that I can put it back when the car is sold.

Thanks for any info I can get.

I would say roughly 8"x12"x4" tall. Remove the lower fascia (2 screws in front, 1 pin on the back of the seat). Remove the upper fascia front screw and rotate up. Move seat all the way forward and up. 3 10mm nuts most easily reached with a deep 10mm socket. Can you tell I've done this a couple hundred times:D

I took my changer out and mounted it on the ceiling, out of harms way. Well, it was the second changer, after the first one got flooded.

I know this isn't what you asked, but just keep this in mind if you go off-roading, its nice to keep the floor clear of electronics.

will you sell the cd changer? i'd like to buy it, however my rover has the Harmon kardon speakers, so would it work right?

I think the changer would work fine. I would worry about it connecting to your HK head unit.

However, I plan on putting all the original equipment back when I sell

If you do not have the DII get rid of the p.o.s Land Rover system. I bourght an in dash CD player from Pioneer and could not be happier with the change.
