Hi all,

So based on the responses to my other thread about a/c problems, it looks like I need to replace my a/c expansion valve. It looks to be a VERY big job (drain coolant, refrigerant, remove steering wheel, air bag, dash, heater core, etc.). Does anyone have any advice, shortcuts, work-arounds, or suggestions to complete this job? Also, are there any other things I should replace while I have everything apart?

I have not quite psyched myself up to doing this job. Someone want to help push me off the cliff?

Salud,
Jon

Lets take this question a step further.... It also looks like I have to do this same job on my 07 se7... In looking at the RAVE I see there are actually 2 expansion valves, the front one and the one in the rear.

How do I tell which one has failed so I replace the correct one?

My issue is a lack of cooling, it blows cold, just not cold enough. I pulled a vacuum on the system yesterday and then refilled it. But the low side pressure is high.

The Temp outside was about 100F The low side pressure was 60 (should be around 30) and the high side was 225 which is correct.

I'm not looking forward to this repair. My local garage doesn't even want to do it lol.

Ive fixed the trucks I had that kept needing freon- but low side around 60 isnt that unusual IIRC. What are the vent temps reading sitting still and at road speed?
