Replacing Headliner Cost

I just got my headliner done yesterday 11/3 it cost $150 installed - I gave her $160. This is in Virgina just east of Richmond. I dropped the truck off - - 4 hours later she called and I went and picked it up. This was a small local shop and I know the owner. She said she would normally charge folks $200 - - and for the time, effort, glue, and material - I was happy to pay her. For somethings, I think it is okay to support a small local shop.

I live just south of Atlanta, GA and had a guy do my headliner for $150. He also pulled the passenger seat, cut out a damaged side rear panel and replaced it for $75 more. WELL WORTH IT in my estimation. It looks tons better. This guy works just south of Griffin in Sunnyside, GA not CA. Drop me a line and I can dig up his contact information if anyone wants it.

In case it's any help, I have a D1 standard tan color, which has the lighter headliner. The color headliner material that was the most ideal match for mine was called "light titanium" in several brands the upholsterer had.

I need to do this too but mine is a se7 with rear air.

2 questions;

Is the roof noticeably hotter with rhino liner vs. the headliner

Has anyone used any stick on insulation and then rhino liner to protect from heat?

Thanks,

perhaps you didnt understand me. the headliner fiberglass shell is still there. you are merely removing the sagging fabric and then painting the shell with the liner. my guess is that the coating of liner is a better insulator than the thin material that you would be removing.

here is what mine looks like....no more worries from it!

So what is the name of the shop - I am in Northern VA and looking for a cheap local place to fix and take care of.

How was the work?

To amplify barefoot's comments, I have an se7 with rear air, and replaced the cloth on my headliner with a bedliner coating. I notice no difference in heat, noise, or anything else relative to stock. I do notice that the thing is now droop-proof ...

I've had no issues with knuckle scraping, neither have the rugrats, who jump and climb and bump and scrape anything in their path ...

A buddy of mine took the old fabric to a paint shop and had them match the color. Then he cleaned all the old material and foam off and just painted the headliner. He used an egg shell finish paint. In my opinion it looks great!!! and it is VERY easy to clean off grease and stuff. I am about to do mine i think!

I like this option. What kind of paint did he use? Latex?

I took a small trim piece to Home Depot and had them mix up a pint of the cheapest brand to match. It was latex paint. With that, a pint of white primer and a couple of small sponge rollers. That's all you need.

A stiff bristled brush will take the glue residue right off. You'll end up with a slightly rough texture that when painted looks similar to the fabric that was there.

That's good news. I have lots of latex paint left over from painting the living room that is a pretty close match to the upholstery.
