I know this will probably be considered a series of stupid questions, but...

My front shocks are leaking.

How difficult of a job is it for me to replace shocks on a DI? Is it something I can do in my back yard with some jack stands? I haven't gone outside to look at it myself yet because it is raining...

Is only replacing the front shocks OK or should I replace all shocks? The rear ones look fine and seem to work perfectly well.

Salud,
Jon

Very easy, just unbolt the bottom of the shock and pull the shock tower. There are a set of front bilsteins in the for sale section right now.

I replaced my front shocks in about 30 minutes in my driveway using some common tools. It's pretty easy. No jacking required. Here is a link to a description of a tool I devised that made the process much easier.

Get those Bilsteins and go for it. I bought a set of Bilsteins from Elias and they showed up pronto in great shape, so I can enthusiastically recommend doing business with him.

While tightening the four nuts on the shock tower retaining ring, you may very well twist off or strip a stud.

They are mild steel, and won't tolerate much torque.

Thanks for the replies all. Sounds very simple. I was just worried because everything else on my Disco has been a pain...

Which Blistein's did you mean? I see several for sale right now. The one's I see that are just the front are for a DII...

Would the used set (front and rear) for 9K be a good deal?

Check the tech section for full details. Straight forward. Oh yeah get the stud rings cause they break and bend very easy. Good luck

a pb blast the ever living hell out of the lower stud on the front shocks. That and a giant pair of vice grips for when you try to take it off as it'll just spin the whole shock body...
