Got a quote from the local tranny shop of $600 to install a transmission in my truck(just installation)Anyone ever replace the transmission in a d1? Is it something that can be done in the driveway? How horrible of a job is it? details details

I just replaced the trans in my 00 Dll, I didn't have to mess around with the the same type of crossmember....600 isn't too bad for removal and fitment. Unless it's not your daily driver, have a go at it.
I would rec. splitting the transfer case while it's on the truck, one...it will be easier to handle, and two, you have better access to the bell housing bolts on the top...just my input though. Also, use a 24mm socket on the front of the crankshaft to spin the torque converter and remove the bolts...a little easier. P.M if you have any questions.
