Anyone know of a shop that is able to reset leaf springs? Preferred in Philly area.

Cheers

If they are the stock leafs !
I would invest in parabolics before spending any money on the stock leafs. I never knew how much difference there could be in the ride of my Series till I made the investment. Much better ride and flex and I did the work myself. I had to pray for forgiveness with the words I let fly trying to get old stock leafs off by far one of the most frustrating task I've ever taken. So I thinking to reset original old leafs by the hour you might wanna consider parabolis replacement.

Just my thoughts good luck

Ive had many sets of both types. New springs = New Springs. Parabolics dont inherently have significantly more flex or better ride than stock springs. Call around, Im sure there is a spring shop that can help. The yellow pages is a great start. Many shops will do them very reasonably.

He's talking about a Series I, not sure you can get parabolics for those. Actually I don't have a clue if they are the same as later Series trucks.

I have a decent/good set of 80in rear springs. They are rusty, but not really sagged that I can tell.

If its an 86/88/107/109 series one the later springs will fit. For the narrow 80 inch springs you can use early jeep springs. Check the specs as there are many different early jeep springs. I think its the cj2a/3a/3b ones that fit but I would have to look.

The vehicle is a '49 80", so it has the narrow springs (1 3/4" wide).
The Series one spring specs. are:
Front: 9 leaf, 1 3/4" wide, 755lb static load/230 lb/in rate
Eye to Eye (spring flat 36 1/4")

Rear: 9 or 10 leaf, 1 3/4" wide, 455lb driver side/365lb passenger side static load/180 lb/in rate
Eye to Eye (spring flat 42")

By chance do you have the Jeep spring specs lying about?

I bought the springs (new) through RN several years ago and have only just fitted them to the vehicle.
Vehicle is sitting too low.

I dont have the specs. When I had a 49 I went to a spring shop and looked through the specs for various manufacturers to find narrow springs. Early Scouts and Jeeps used the same width springs. Several jeeps have the right lengths although I remember that the fronts and rears match different models of jeep. Sounds like you have springs that are in good shape but sagging, Im sure you can have these re-arched. In the future you can use jeep springs as they are pretty inexpensive and you can get them in a variety of arch heights.

Yep, will look at getting the springs re-arched and will look into longer spring shackles.

I dont think you want longer shackles. They dont do much (you ony get half of the extra height of the shackle in lift, and they look silly esp on a 49 with the shackles at the front.
