Ok, the title basically says it all. My 97 disco right side parking lights do not work. Also when you turn the vehicle on the Shifter lights come on, but after you turn on the parking lights or the headlights the shifter lights go out... also the dash lights are not working.

Any thoughts? I have checked all the bulbs except the dash light ones and the right rear upper bulb... planning to remove the jump seat and checking tomorrow if all goes well.

But interested in your thoughts.

Search...

Could be the headlight switch.
Could be a short in the glove box.
Could be maaannnnny things.

search should cover it.

Look for "No dashlights"

Normal no dashlights would be the switch.. I have had that before and fixed by changing the switch.. but I have never had just one side of the parking lights work before... this is a new one on me.

My right side lights where out. And my glove box light was out. Went on a trail one day, everything was jostled around, and now it all works again.

I will give that a try... now the question is why does that only effect the passenger side of the vehicle...

Oh never mind, this is why I bought a Rover it has a personality.

I will check for a short though

I think I remember a thread where someone talked about their taillights (one side, both? can't recall exactly) being out. Turned out it was a chaffed wire under a seat/trim piece/etc.. They traced the wires from the lights all the way back to fuse/switch.

Sounds like that's what you'll have to do. Look for the short (assuming the switches/fuses check out, but from what you describe, it sounds like they are OK).

FYI - According to RAVE, the taillights run off of the same fuse (#1, under the steering column). Also, fuse #4 in the engine bay controls the hazard lights and horn, maybe check that one (all of those).

Good luck....

Mine was doine the same thing last week. Turn on the truck, I had the lights in the shifter area but when I switched on my lights that went out. Also has headlights, but no running/parking lights on the pass. side, but did on the drivers' side. Mine was a blown fuse, pretty sure from getting water into the trailer wiring, which I had cut and left hanging outside while it snowed. Good luck.

I checked all my fuses, I guess that leaves the switch, odd since the last time it went out not even 3 years ago, it would just kill the dash lights and all the tail lights, not just one side...

Oh well, guess I get a new switch.
