Just saw a similar type story about people not wanting to repair Teslas. Many being totaled out for damage below the typical threshold

I missed this but wow. That is nothing but a fucking scam. Unless Rivian is using pot metal there is no way that truck needed torn down that far. That is simply a business taking advantage of new tech (EV) to bilk the insurance company. I mean the rear window and part of the roof... "We need to make sure the batteries aren't damaged, senors, blah, blah, blah". Invoice= parts/8k, labor/34k.

This was a problem with the 1st gen Ridgeline, although not to this scale. Basically it had one side panel from the taillight up and including the roof. Net result was high insurance rates.
