So I had this vid on the other 69k thread. Moved it because that was a LOL post and this didn't fit. It's actually really cool and changed my opinion of the vehicle somewhat.

Lots of "feel good" stuff about saving the world, but nothing about why this is better than a dino powered truck.

They claim to "re-invent" that battery, but I doubt it. It'll still have the inherent flaw(s) that all Li-ion battery powered vehicles have - limited range, limited ability to charge it, and long charge times (compared to filling up with dead dinosaurs).

The Nikola with fuel cell is worth noting...except that it's still a dream. And who the fuck needs a pick up to do 0-60 in 2.8? Or have 900HP. The 900ft lbs is nice, but it only has a towing capacity of 8000. (Shit, my 2003 Taco has a towing capacity of 5000; a 2018 Silverado is over 12K)

It was probably about 1985ish I was working as a GCS and I was playing a round with a member. His golf bag started ringing. I was like WTF. He pulled out a suitcase and pulled a phone out and answered it. Talked some tech shit and hung up. I was like WTF. He said he worked for Verizon and they called it a cell phone. Invisioned the day when everyone would own one.

I guess you have to start somewhere don't you.

I think Rivian has designed a wonderful vehicle, here, and I actually like the styling and features. It seems incredibly practical.

Aesthetically, it's amazing. The thing is the perfect blend of old and new, and that streamlined interior take rooted in mid-century modern industrial design is just as impressive. They've brought the interior forward in time by dragging it back a decade. The whole vehicle is fucking gorgeous.

Gerry McGovern wishes he was that good.

There's no telling how it will work as a production vehicle in the real world, but that's to be expected.

Cheers,

Kennith

I like it, except for the vertical lights in the front. Curious to see the neighbor's Tesla truck when (if ever) that arrives.

Interesting. I wonder what constant solar charging could do for it.
