Okay, first photos of the P38 with the awesome bumpers and sliders from Alan Bates at rockrover.com.

If you own a P38, you need these!!!

... and if you are wondering, yes I did end up having to winch in that spot - wheelbase too long! :D

Uwharrie, right?
Looks similar to the RTE bumper.
That spot is worse when it is wet...

Yeah you got it! Uwharrie on the approach to Daniel (ascending). I've done it a bunch of times in my 110 and not had a problem, but the P38 is a lot lower.

Also, the 110 is much more of a brute force vehicle - I feel a lot more comfortable just bashing my way up and over when I'm wheeling it...

I like it, those look pretty cool. I would be interested to see what the bumper would look like with out the brush bar. It would probably look pretty good too. Nevermind, i just looked at the website and it does look pretty good.

These are really sturdy units, all around. Rover Club House, who did the install for me, were very impressed with the quality of design and manufacture.

Given the limited options for P38 aftermarket products, we are lucky to have such a high quality product available.

Nice pics!!! Honor for the P38...

Pugsly, just because I want to hear it from "another horses mouth" persay, how do you feel about the strength/durability of those sliders? The whole 2-bolt frame attachment thing? It looks tough as nails, just want some verification, because it looks like you gave them a good test run there at Uwharrie.

I know someone locally who's contemplating fabbing some for me and some other P38 enthusiests. Just wondering if the $750+shipping would be better (knowing they're quality work) vs. getting some cheapo immitations here. But sometimes custom fabbed stuff is just as good if not better....

The rockrover ones are amazingly sturdy. The bolts don't actually take any load when the slider is taking the vehicle weight - the sliders wrap around the bottom and inside of the frame, so when the sliders are supporting the vehicle weight they are transferring the weight directly to the frame, not just through a couple of bolts.

Remember, the P38 frame is very wide - the sliders don't have big outriggers like Defender sliders...

I have no doubt Alan's peices are bulletproof - but what I do doubt is the statement above. The bolts have to take SOME load. Since they are frame mounted the framerails will take a lot of the weight, but the bolts DO take some load Pugs. The only way to transfer the entire weight to the frame, as you suggest, would be to weld the slider to the frame.
