Im looking into getting some sliders for my 95 discovery. i dont like the idea of sill mounted ones and the rockware's are the only ones that seem to mount off the frame. Does anyone have any pictures of them unistalled as well as installation pics. ive done a lot of searching and cant really find out anything about them.
thanks,
will

a lot of searching with no results should tell you something about the product.

Get the RTE sliders and be done with it!!!
or even MoFab or Slickrock...

sill mounted sliders are fine as long as they are installed correctly.

i watched a set of them get crunched up into the door on a D2 on holy cross trail a few weeks ago. Poor guy had to climb out on the passenger side. i slid over the same rock without harm with my seal mounted sliders, but mine are beef.

i am not a fan of those sliders, and they cost TOO MUCH

That was me and the slider did not fail but the door frame bent where the attachment crosses to the frame. I drove down to Colo. Springs and bought them from Rockware directly mainly to save shipping costs. Otherwise I've had no problem them with some hard wheeling.

Rockware get no love here, but as RRCNicky said, they are frame mounted, and I have seen RTEs bend into the door on DII's.....price is good too. Sometimes getting what you want is better than following the herd. RTE does its job, I just think that if you are going through the trouble, might as well get some frame mounted ones.

Rockware sliders are top notch and the strongest sliders on the market I'm aware of (Steve at RoverTym told me himself that these frame mounted sliders are stronger than his sill mounted ones). We have multiple club members who use them and they treat them rough. Here is a link to a video of a member with a Defender putting them to the test.

that video was 2:53 minutes to long ! Not bad out of a 2:55 video. Also he barely touched the sliders i mean i have bang sliders 10 times that and no problems.

I have them, been very happy so far but haven't been in an extreme situations with them, ie. heavy drops. They were fine with a hi-lift jack supporting the vehicle weight. Only thing I would like to see is more conatct area with the sill. They only have two points with bump stops, 3 or 4 would be ideal. Rockware could easily add them.

no pre-installation pics, but here are some on the truck.

Are you talking about frame sliders or rock sliders? If you are talking rock sliders you can't touch RTE or Slickrock for that matter. The only frame sliders I know of are Rockwares. Apples and oranges/frame and rock.

Is there anything available for a DII that connects to the frame too?

I like the RTE but it looks like that extra wing gives it enough leverage to bend the sills on lots of trucks. Many around here have to pry them back down to get the doors open. I like the extra wing for a pseudo step and keeping things that much further away though.

Interesting that you're quoted on his site.

I've always been a big supporter of the RTEs... until me and my friends started having them bent into our doors on us.. it's bent body panels, misaligned doors, etc.. If/when I do it again, I'm definitely getting them without nerf bars and hopefully frame mounted. They do their job while 'sliding' but if you come down on them in the wrong spot too hard, they do more damage then protection.

Here are some pics when I installed mine. Fairly easy install and they can take a beating. I personally liked them better because they are not tight against the sill to trap the NY salt. Just my $.02
