I found a great deal on a rack like the one below. The only issue is it doesn't have any mounting hardware. Not a huge deal.....but I was wondering what I can do to "fabricate" something for the front mounts? Or....is there anywhere to buy just the hardware for this rack?

Good news is it’s doable and pretty easy. Just takes some tinkering to get it right. I was in the same situation and fabricated up some front mounts myself. Essentially used some 2.25”x1” C channel to fab them up. You can transport it without the front legs if that’s a need. For the rear I used some aluminum with 1” bolts which slide in the tracks of the factory roof rails. I based off the photo/info (below) I found online. Can post some more details photos or specs if needed.

You might also look at Yakima hardware. I used to have a Yakima rack that had rectangular, threaded aluminum inserts that slid into the factory tracks on my roof. As for the front parts that mount above the driver's/passenger's seats, I have no suggestions. But I have the same rack on my LR3 and love it! Here it is in action, carrying two Pelican cases, a jerry can, two dry bags, two camping mattresses, and a chair. The factory rack doesn't have the same kind of strength as a steel aftermarket model, but it's lighter and I don't want to carry a lot of weight on my roof regardless. Post up what your solution is.

Josh, here are a few pics of my setup. You can see how you have to tilt in the front legs to avoid any clearance. In hindsight I would’ve got with a larger C channel to make them a bit higher. I had to use a washer which has suited my needs so far

Well...for the time being, I have not added the "front mounts" to the rack. I have mounted it to the roof rails using some basic bolts and washers and all is well. I intend to come up with something to support the front, but for the now it will suffice without the front supports. I am happy with it and the deal I got on this would make yall mad!!! so I won't say what I paid.IMG_2854.jpg

Where'd you find it. I'm looking for one too. I found a D2 Front Runner Slimline II for my LR3 at a local yard and picked it up for $42 but it's 6" to wide and about 10" to short. Was thinking of cutting it to fit and making it a 3/4 rack. Just need to figure out the mounts and wind fairing but would rather have an OEM one.

Any additional help, beyond what's above would be appreciated.

Have to be diligent on searching Facebook marketplace, message boards, Craigslist, etc. Think finding mounts for the front of your rack will be the least of the modifications you’d need to make.

I should also mention an easy alternative to making your own front mounts is the factory full length roof rails. Rack will bolt right up to it and looks nice

I'd be interested to see if that works. The Land Rover catalog for the LR3 specifies that the short roof rails are required for the full-length rack. I imagine that is because the factory rack came with the forward mounting feet (which wouldn't be able to attach if you had full-length rails), but if you don't have the front feet maybe that configuration would work.

Someone on a LR3/4 Facebook did this setup and it looks pretty good. 68328531-12D9-4D13-95B0-1D7478107966.jpeg
