Hey all,
I have kind of posted about this in the past but we are getting closer to production. I am working with the company Gobi. We need to know how many people would be interested in possibly going in on a group buy when we are ready for sales. The retail price is around $1500.00 (and that is including shipping) but obviousy in a group buy there would be a drop in price. In order to get them moving at Gobi for us Rover guys (and to slow them on the Jeep crap) I need to know how many people would be interested in one of there racks for your over... Please PM me if you are interested or if you have any questions. I will hope to have a more accurate price up soon. I will also have more info on what the rack will include and styles avalable soon.

Thanks in advance for any of your intrest.
Chris

James: The racks are being desidned with RTT mounting in mind

Antichrist: I can't quite get the angle of the other group buy threads in this section either but oh well

Mongo: Tell that to greg as far as the advertisment part... and as far as if some sales are made of course there will be some green thrown to the dweb.

any other questions are welcome

This is what I recived from Tim at Gobi to post here for some more info on the racks...

"This rack will be every bit as durable as our HUMMER series racks. Your rack will mount similar to the H1 series..to the rain gutters. You will be able to have 300lbs up there if needed. The rack will follow vehicles lines and will be offered with a straight bar across the top or bent with the roof line. Sunroof openings will also be an option. All racks will have expanded metal flooring as the HUMMER racks do. We also incorporate a thick diameter tubing to accommodate Yakima or Rocky Mountain attachments for bike, skis, kayaks, etc. We will also offer the hi-lift, axe/shovel, and cargo system tie down attachments.

Rear ladder will also be available.

All of our products will use the same process for painting/ powder coating. They will be cleaned, under coated, and than powder coated. This process has proved to be the most durable and will prevent rust from overtaking the rack if you should ever gouge or scratch the rack up bad. The under coating is an extra layer, but also keeps rust from migrating under the paint should you gouge into the metal and not touch it up.

A price point has not yet been set, but I can give you an estimate. It will be prices roughly the same as our H3 HUMMER and Toyota FJ Cruiser. The rack price with shipping to the lower 48 states will be around $1500.00. The rear ladders will be around $299 shipped. The attachments are priced as the current ones. $149.95 each. Please keep in mind these are preliminary numbers and are only an estimate. They may be cheaper or more depending on time/ materials."

Here is the link for the FJ Cruiser build sheet.
The racks for our Rovers will be made of the same materials

I'm leaning towards the Hannibal. But make the rack functional and I may reconsider. Saying that it is like the Hummer rack doesn't do much for me. I'm more interested in the specifics: can you still use the sunroofs? Can you attach a tent/awning to it? What is it made of? Specifics of the construction of the brackets? How high will the rack be? I guess once the prototype has been shown, then you can start getting ideas for group buys. Getting people to commit to a concept is another matter with the demand for Safety Devices and Hannibal racks out there.

Brian: what do you mean by functional it may already be but idk what you mean

Michaels: That $299 is for a solid ladder not a spot welded thin walled peice of junk that will rust and the powder coat peel.
