rotors?

So I took the rotors off and had them turned before putting new brake pads on. Now I have the traction control light and abs light on. The TC light goes off after the system check but then comes back on as soon as I start moving. Are the rotors side specific because of the abs plates on back or does it matter? Just wondering if I could have put the rotors on the wrong side.
Another question is about the pads. I had to put do pads on the rear (no sensor wire). I thought I was going to have a brake light on but it's now off. How does this sensor work?
1995 RRC LWB.

Thanks,
Rico

You need to lift up and reseat both front ABS sensors. Most times this works.

If this does not work, get to a shop with a Test Book, and have them diagnose the ABS sensors.

Last year I had this problem on my 1995 RRC SWB, and reseating the front ABS sensors did not work. I went to O.C. Rovers, and their Test Book identified that the right front ABS sensor had gone bad. I replaced it and the problem is gone.

Rico, I read on Discoweb a while back about a DIY procedure for reading ABS codes. It was pretty damn simple from what I recall. A search might turn it up. I'm not sure the rotors have anything to do with it but given how inexpensive new rotors are there's not a strong argument against replacing them instead of getting them turned. I reckon a search on rangerovers.net forum will lead you to the DIY code read procedure, too.

As Jim said, the sensor may not be down/seated fully. Tap it down with a hammer and flat head.

Or just unplug the sensors and pull the bulb. A must when you upgrade to HD CV's. (without tone rings)

Rover ABS can be funky anyway.

I forgot to mention that these are the rear rotors.
I had ordered new rotors and pads from a local auto parts store. I had figured I would get a jump start on the repair so I had everything apart. Unfortunately when I went to pick up the parts they somehow did not get delivered. So having a set of D1 pads I had a friend turn the rotors and used the pads I had. I wanted new rotors but had no choice.

Thanks

Anyone have an answer about rear rotors being side specific. I would hate to go though the trouble of pulling them off if they are the same.

Thanks
Rico

They are identical.... left to right. Although, if you like, I can sell you a special left handed rear rotor for twice the right hand price.

Rico,
Another point re: the ABS light from my first '95 LWB: Jumping the connections to read the ABS error code without TestBook works. You need to jump connectors that are under the drivers seat and count the flashes from the light on the dash. Helped me diagnose a bad ABS sensor at the front. Which brings me to point #2: Sometimes if reseating the sensor doesn't work, it could be because the system things the metal bush the sensor sits in is bad (springy metal thing). If you clean it off and slightly bend the tabs back out to increase the grip against the bore and the sensor, it saves having to buy a new one. HTH...

Got the same issue on my 95, almost positive its the driver front. I reseated and lights didnt go off, Rico what kind of play in the rotor are you talking about?
