I know a great place it the DC area if you are willing to make the trip. They are open on weekends to do some repairs. The site is http://www.roverland4x4.com. These guys are fair and honest. They will even just install the parts if you bring them in. So far here is what I have done and the prices. (All this completed in one day.)

Brake rotors/pads installed $340
BG Transmission Flush $200
Fix pain in the but exhaust leak and replace 3 O2 sensors $350
Replaced ABS pump (with used pump with 6 month warranty) $690
Replaced Drive Shaft (with used shaft with six month warranty) $350

The coolest part about this place is that they showed you everything before they do any work. The guys also have this crazy Land Rover computer program that diagnosis almost everything. They out to the shop and went though my Rover with computer program and showed me everything. It took about 20 minutes and they told me that everything looked good when it was OK (not like the dealership). These guys are fair and honest. It was a weird feeling. I highly recommend them.

It's really a matter of just finding a guy. There's a shop near me in philly where the guy does most of the work I don't feel like doing to my D1. He's never had any real problems and he has an old IIA in the lot that he says was his first car. Wouldn't consider him a rovexpert but good in a pinch. I'm pretty confident once I get my IIA or III that I can take it to him if I am truly stumped on something. Skytop is good, I went there last week but expensive. Consider them the LRNA series dealership and you will be on the right track.

I go to a little independent show in Doylestown. The guy is great. He has worked on my IIa, D90, Lighweight and Disco. There is always a Rover on his lot getting worked on.

Ask for Pete Harcorn, he runs the place, you can reach him @ 215-340-4514.

Where is that located? I used to live in Doylestown, and never heard of him. I may actually end up there again in another year or so.

Try Trevor Griffits RVRSRVC in Elizabethtown, PA if you can venture that far from Philly. He was part of Treasured Motorcars. He can do anything Rover related. Has the Testbook for Electronic issues. Great guy and a true Rover fanatic. He is presently in Africa but due to return soon.
I use Pete in Doylestown for my inspections. Also someone you can trust.

Yeah, I'll have to try the guy in Doylestown since it's close. I do most work and will have the computer soon, but some bigger things I can't tackle. I also haven't found any of the dealers in the area to be good. I'd also definitely go to Treasured(I know Trevor's parents) or even to Trevor's place!!! But a friend just had an issue with Skytop that doesn't look very good. I'm just looking for any info on Skytop - voicemail full and other bad signs.

Skytop sucks.

www.roverrepairs.com is the awesome (trevor www.roverlab.com is good too but he is in Africa at the moment and pretty far from the city).

Tell Frank that Ron sent you. I have known him for 10 years and he was one of the original master techs at Willow Grove even before LR Main Line opened. He knows his stuff and is not expensive.

I know the guys at J & J Motors right near Villanova/Ardmore if i recall correctly - I forget where they actually are but I know how to get to them when I'm there. :)

They are excellent, not sure if they are "rover guys" but they are bright and really good guys for sure. Known them for years.

Interesting. They are about a mile from my house and while I would use Frank for rovers, I might take my Bavaria or old 911 there.

Good to know. When you are in town, shoot me an email (I am evilfij on D-90.com) and we can get a drink.
