I've had the $G for several years and it's held up really well. Was expensive and customer service was terrible (at least it was back in 2001-2002). The $G is only compatible with the $G skid plate. I prefer the looks of the $G to the Rover Solutions, but I've only seen the RS in pictures. $G was an easy install. Fit was excellent. At the time I got my bumper,$G was only available from the left coast. I think Rovers North carrys these now. Not sure where you're located, or where RS distributes there products, but you should consider shipping costs.

If I had it to do over againe I'd go with RTE. Not as nicely finished as the $G but looks a whole lot stronger. Better folks to deal with, too. Good Luck !

I've seen the $G and the RTE "flexing" together, i.e. touching together in a sticky moment, and the $G was the only thing bending. It was laughable how 'tinny' it was. I think Kyles is also made to RTE-standards, maybe better, so either one of those two would be a better choice.

Cheaper too.

If I read this correctly, you have a DII. If so, I also strongly recommend the RTE bumper. Mine has served me well, especially when winching up very steep inclines. Also, the approach angle is great. That's my 2 cents.

David,

Do you have any pics of your disco with the RTE bumper?

Any one knows if the RTE SlimLine Bumper with Full Brush Bar is heavier than the TJM T15 bullbar?

thanks,
Peter

I do very few bumpers and even fewer for the Discovery 2. If you want a planetary winch and money is an object then I vote for the RTE myself. Its ugly , but it gets the job done..... It cancels out the $G bumper because it is basically a Slimmed down $G with better construction...
If money is no object then I would have to put mine on top of the list :D . The TJM would come in a good second....

Well money is "sort of" important. The most important thing is to get a bumper that works well and looks good to me. Technical support isn't so important, as I can't really see what I would use it for; It's a bumper, not a computer. :D

And that would of course be because each one is custom built, with the bullbar of your choice, or no bar at all.....

Yes, I have a RS bumper. And no, I have nothing to do with RS.

So...is there even a "ballpark" number? Like between $200 and $2000 for example?

I'm also considering replacing my "chin-dragging" front end with something more functional but knowing a rough price is usually part of any smart person's decision making. <dr evil voice>Throw me a fricken bone here!</dr evil voice> ;)
