Disco 2, 2002 no air height control system auto v8 USA.

I have 18" optional factory wheels. The ride is too harsh for me. I know some people like those wheels.

2 questions:

First, will the standard 15" wheels fit over the brakes on this truck? and Second, is there anyone in the Northeast that would like to trade 18" for 15"?

Next, I have an AC R134a leak somewhere. My experience with other cars is it is normally the compressor front seal that fails. The system works fine for a week if I recharge it so it is a small leak thus far. This is the climate control system. There is a slight rushing sound coming from behind the left side of the heater/AC central unit. If it isn't an obvious thing I am going to go get it sniffed I guess.

There is no option on a Discovery II for a 15" wheel, and it will not fit over the caliper. The other factory option is a 16", and they will fit over the brakes.

I would have dye put into the A/C system and then have it checked after a week. Best and most reliable method to check it.

OK, I stand corrected. Then same as above only 16" trade for 18". I live in VT where the roads are terrible and we optimize for snow more than anything else. Tall, narrow and compliant is the best setup for up here. Wide and stiff just keeps you chattering all the time.

I'll look for dye.

For a D2 there are a few Land Rover 16" wheels that you can swap for.

Mirage, came standard on some D2s for a while on earlier years.
Stratos, came standard on the early Range Rover P38s (1996-ish)
Typhoon, came on the P38 and the D2 Kalahari edition. Less common.

Maybe there are others that will work, too. These are the options that come to mind.

I recall seeing ads for Mirage and Typhoon wheels in the "Parts For Sale" forum here within the past month. Some of the vendors on here might be able to source some for you, as well, if they get a parts truck in with them.
