Has anybody installed the ROVERDUDE CDL linkage on a ''00 D2. I am refering to cable kit that runs from the left side of the steering wheel to the CDL nipple. I am installing mine this weekend and was looking for any tips or hints on the install. Thanks in advance.

Install

Were instructions sent along with the kit. It is a pretty straight froward install. The most difficult parts were feeding the cable behind the dash/console and moving the carpet on passenger side.

I used a coat hanger wire from the passenger side to the driver side then taped the cable on and pulled it through. This was easier than pushing the cable through. My carpeting was very stiff. The confined area made it tough to get out of the way.

After I finished I went back and sprayed the sheet metal srews and hole where the cable goes through the passenger floor with bed liner. I sprayed inside and underneath the truck. You may have to notch the foam core board that covers the underside of the passenger dash in order to get it to clip back in depending on the path of the cable. Try to make your bends in the cable as gradual as possible. Use a panel tool to remove the clips. If you dont have that a weed popper with some tape on the ends works also. Take your time. A few hours start to finish with clean up.

I have the same kit which I bought off someone on the D2 list on yahoo. ITs not great, but it gets the job done and was cheaper and easier then everything else that can be activated from the cabin

This looks like a pretty good way to get the CDL. I have a 2000 disco, and have been researching the different ways to get CDL on it. This is the first I have seen of this one, but I think I like it the best.

What was the cost of the kit???

I paid 165.00 for it and think it is a good product overall. However, after the install and my first trip out, the push button mechanism on the cable broke. I am currently talking to the retailer to find out if it can be fixed or replaced. I will update as soon as I hear anything. Until then, I am witholding judgement.

Craig,

You've got him trumped on the linkage, but not on price I'm sure ;)

Curtis, I must admit that there are cables involved, but they're connected to this:

Koby- had I known the '04 setup was available, that is definitely the route I would have taken (dang it). However, if cost is important, the D1 linkage bolts on the transfer case perfectly and still keeps a stock look if that is important to you.

Koby-when are you going to share your CDL secret, how'd you get the 04 setup? Come on, spill. ;)
