In the midst of my annaul change all the fluids in my '95 D1 ritual and found that I was out of my usual Amsoil 75-90 gear oil. Since it's a pita to track down the Amsoil guy in Bumblefuck, OK, I went to the local speed shop where the guy swore by Royal Purple in the same viscosity. There was a jeeper guy there with a pretty impressive rig who said he used it in his truck with a limited slip additive.

Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone is using Royal Purple in their diffs, swivel balls or transfer case? Results?

Thanks

I am not using Royal Purple, only because I have settled into the Lucas Oil products, but I have heard good reports on Royal Purple.

I am kind of like Mike, I have not used it but I know people that swear by it.
I am trying Redline in my transmission this go round and it seems to make a differance in shifting. Doing Mobil 1 in everything else with a quart of Lucas in the crank case.

Royal Purple

I use it in my Land Cruiser and highly recommend it. I'm running Mobil1 in my Rover and haven't changed over because Mobil1 is much cheaper at Costco. Royal Purple, if you don't mind the high price, beats Mobil1 by far.

I've been using Royal Purple for about 12 years now. Used to see it being used at the Harley drag races.
An old friend of mine that works at,(get this) an oil refinery in Louisiana told me that their company did research of all the oils available for use in their fleet and equipment. He told me that Royal Purple placed second. Number one was Schaeffer, but it was not sold to the public.
I even use the Royal Purple's Purple Ice in my cooling system. All in all, I'm happy with it.

I've never used it personally, but in some Audi circles I know of, it is very highly recommended. Especially by those that actually drive their cars hard. I would assume it's pretty good stuff, cause it holds up under the high temps of the Turbo's and small engines very well.
