RRC Exhaust from BP

Has anyone used the BP cat-back exhaust for the RRC? My muffler rusted in two and fell off the truck. I thought about just having the muffler replaced and reusing the stock tailpipe, but with the price of the whole thing from BP, it seems like that could be the way to go. Has anyone used this kit? I don't want to buy junk. (The low price is scaring me off somewhat.)

Cat-backs are made by just a few manufacturers, which do make the genuine. May have a little aligning while hanging. I used a genuine from AB, which was an alternative and fit good. Prices are not cheap. Only other is to go to local muffler shop and price a fabricated system, which they can do on the spot.

Muffler, tailpipe, and resonator from BP are only $199. I'd say that's pretty cheap. I referred to this system as the cat-back. That may be incorrect, but it does bolt to the Y-pipe and goes all the way from there.

My original plan was to just have a new muffler welded in, but for $199, why not go with the whole new system? (unless it's ill fitting or poorly constructed.)

What you described would be considered a "cat-back" system. That's a good price, and they are not too hard to do yourself. Fuck the local muffler shop hacks, you will get a better end result doing it yourself.

I was just hoping to find someone with experience with this particular system. I don't want to spend the money for a rust-prone thinwalled low grade steel system (if that's what it is.) If it's good quality, I'll order it ASAP!

Just got an email from BP. They say it's "mild steel", standard replacement type stuff. 2mm thick tubing.

I may check with a local muffler shop about getting a new muffler and reusing my existing tailpipe/resonator. If it's too close to this price, I'll just get the BP piece.

For around the same price a small muffler shop will weld you up a mandrel bent setup. Avoid the cheap ass flow-through mufflers unless you sound like a ghetto truck.

my muffler only lasted like 2 years - seamed aluminized metal......i had a flowmaster put in and love it! The mufflers that come with these 2 piece units are cheap and dont last long. I'd buy a flowmaster and have a muffler shop bend the pipes for you and eliminate the resonator at the back (2nd muffler)....just my 2 cents....
