I am ready to build my homemade snokel for my 92 RRC. The exterior parts are easy it is the under the hood stuff that I am concerned with. My main question is where to cut the hole to get into the engine compartment? Does anyone have any advise or pictures? I would appreciate any and all input.

Thanks,
Jeff

I had a bunch of pics on the old site, new computer pictures no more, If the dweb gods would get a move on then the archives would be back up. Do not take the bonet off it is completely unnecessary. If you really need pics I am sure I can take a few new ones and send them to you. Just drop me an email, as we never know when dweb will be functioning.

I just checked the site which shows the fitting of the Mantec snorkel.

I didn't remove the bonnet (hood) nor did I remove the decker panel to cut the hole in it.

It's wasn't necessary.

i think that if you ever install a snorkel on a classic or in fact on any other land rover, it would have to be the mantec. honestly you might save quite a bit of money on doing the homemade version, but the homemade version will definately degrade your classic's integrity unless you do it w/ taste and good craftsmanship.

also in regards to removing the bonnet and decker panel, if you do the homemade versoin and use similar pieces as ron's snorkel version, i'm sure removal of the decker panel and bonnet are not necessary, but the mantec did require removal of these parts for a proper fit.

good luck
