After a long day of wheeling today with Doug(RovingBeetle), we got to find out that the bumpers on his TWR are plastic and not fiberglass.
The truck is no longer...... sweet. It now has ...."character" marks ALL over the P/S of the truck. On a brighter note, it is now going to be easier to fit a new front AND rear bumpers since they were both torn off. I'm not sure where the rocker trim fell off at though.

It was one hell of a nice truck. It was worth every penny, now its time for mods.... I heard him talk about a 6.2 diesel today??

So let me get this straight......he flies & drives across the country to obtain a relatively rare RR and then beats it?

We met at the old ECR shop at 9:00 am, with about 7 others. I looked at the truck, and told him it would be completely safe if he were to park it at the shop. I actually told him that about a dozen times, because I kept drooling over the truck. I have NEVER seen a RRC that clean and nice. It's sick. Anyway, he says I'll just go as far as I'm comfortable with and park it and bum a ride. He then proceeded to take that fine specimen in the FAWKIN woods. I kept looking in my rearview mirror because my brain kept telling me there's no way he's actually doing this. But alas, that truck saw trail time today.Period.

Thanks Carey, good times! Great people, fun trails and a great day despite the one downpour then sun. Just made the rocks a little slick and more eventful.

The "bog" area was certainly a little deep - and probably good I *didn't* venture into there. Ha!

Still always amazed what a more or less stock Rover will do. Pick a good line and go. :D

Crappy cell phone pics of the easy trail leading up to the nasties taken from my drivers seat (look at how nicely the water beads on the waxed up hood! he heh.) and one at the top of the mountain:

And...... the aftermath shots of the truck taken at my house, parked next to the wifey's Cooper S. :ack:

wait for it

Here - ;) as you can see she is FINE, not a *single* scuff or scratch in the least. Coupl of those rock ledge ares were close to touching but driving her easy and with a brain, pick a good line and she crawled right up with no fus and not a single scuff. Just some mud in the fender wells and little dirt and dust on her. Hell she still looks shiny even. I really did "use" it but ended up parking her mid-day at ECR's shop and rode with Carey when things got nasty. That guy can drive! :applause: :

Glad to see the RRC unscathed from the adventure. I'm a big fan of it's your truck use it as you wish, but I have to admit I cringed when I read what Casey wrote. I was hoping he was pulling peoples leg.

:D

The two of us had grand plans of carrying on - to the point of showing the truck without the bumpers and all. (I am removing them anyway [ carefully! ] to take the truck to the body shop to have it gone over 100% and be "perfect")

I couldn't stand the thought of bashing it up and the post made me cringe.... so I had to own-up and call it out. :)
