Rte 2" Follow Up...yes Again

Installed my RTE 2" lift last week and I love it! Just the right amount of umpf for me. Follow up question is this:

I noticed that the SLS sensor is not going off. Several searches have revealed that if I don't have it shut off, the relay will keep running and it will kill the battery because it thinks the bags are overloaded. Several other searches say the exact opposite.

Whats the real deal, and how much time do I have to shut it off before it kills my battery????

2nd Follow up:

After more searching than I really wanted and much time daydreaming instead of working (that part didn't bother me) I think I've decided on 265/75 R16 BFG TA/KO. This truck will see mostly beach with a little upstate woods. It was between that and 285/75 R16 Mud or All terrains.

I would love to hear more opinions on Tire selection even though I've read a ton of shit after searching.

Thanks for all the help with the install and the advice!

Have the truck switched from air bags to coils via testbook, autologic, et al. You can either have the dealership do it or an indy shop that has the computer. Some will not charge you at all and others will charge you around $80 just depends. Don't wait on it to kill your battery. If you live in a relatively quiet place you can go out at night when it is dead quiet and listen. You may hear the relay clicking in the system especially if the truck is not on a very level place. It may take two weeks of sitting to kill the battery but I assure you if you don't get it switched via a keystroke it will bite you in the ass when you least want it too.

Cheers,

Mike

265/75/16 are a perfect size for that lift and model truck.

265/75 is what most people do, but i prefer skinnier tires. i run 255/85/16 BFG MTs (wish they made the AT in that size...) and love it. i also really enjoy the ride in Timmy!!!!!!'s DI on a 2" lift with 235/85s. if i had gotten all terrains, it would have been 235/85s. i just don't have the love for fat tires.

I'm just not a skinny kinda guy. I've seen pics of your rig and I think it's sweet but I definitely like the fatter tire. Plus I figure the flotation of a fatter tire on sand will be better. Just looking for something that will look proportionate on the truck with the lift. The 255/65 on there now are just too small.

He's in a DII not a DI therefore bigger wheel wells. I prefer the skinnier tires too but the 265/75s on a DII are not a stretch. I run the 265/80/16 Swamper radials myself with a RTE 3" lift. Next set will be the new 33/10.50/16 TSL radials. They are a little taller and a little narrower.

Cheers,

Mike

true. my 255's are 33/10.5/16 and love them, especially when aired down. they're smooth as butter on the highway as well.

i agree, from the side, 235s do look a little small on DII with the larger wheel wells.

265s perform great, and you will be very satisfied with the AT!

BFG AT 65/75's are the way to go. They have been an outstanding tire off-road in everything but the deepest mud. Plus, the TA/ko has gotten me through some serious snow covered passes on the way to Tahoe.
