Anyone try one of those garden sprayers with the hand pump to spray a "rust preventer". I am curious what type of sprayer would handle the oil thickness.

or wait until there is 210K on the odometer and hook up about 3 tons of weight. then you drive your family cross country while spewing oil out of the timing cover at the rate of about 1 quart per 100 miles. then pay a crook mechanic in vegas 800 bucks to "fix" the leak by making you wait an extra 2 days for a top end gasket job that he swears is the source of the leak. not the timing cover like i told him. i mean you, my friend....great story. oil leaks suck. after that we spent another 3 days in L.A. with me in the streets of Long Beach under the truck putting in new oil cooler lines. still not fixed. what did work? not towing 3 tons. no leak since dropping the weight. still havent done the timing cover. i have the water pump and bolts and gaskets,though....just need an excuse now....happy trails

Brett , if you use the turpentine as a thinner in the wax oil your truck will smell for months. I have now started using AMSOIL metal protector , its pretty much wax oil in a can.

I heard of someone using used motor oil sprayed on the frame, etc for use in rust abatement. Thoughts?

I'm considering doing this. The waxoyl has long since been rubbed off by snow, mud, grass, etc. Remarkably my truck has no leaks and therefore no build up of protective sludge. Surface rust is beginning to take hold and I'd like to head it off. Spraying used oil seems like a potential solution so long as I keep it off the hot parts.

try to find top coat 101 used by military and us coast guard.theydrive on the ocean beaches here and have not had any rust in years. its the best stuff you will find
