I havent had many problems ...except this issue of S and M limp home mode is occuring all the time! it wont go away.
Its A 2000 DII with 124,000 mi. the weird thing is my back tail lamps both went out with my dashboard lights, shifting is touch and go.
so anyways iam at witsend ,ive done alot of maintenance but dont know what to do . should I just bite bullit and go Dealership, or try an Electric diagnosing shop? Any ideas would be appreciated!!!!
thanks k~:banghead:

I had all kinds of electrical issues because I changed my battery and forgot the attach the wire that connects the battery cable to the truck body.

All the issues went away once I reattched the wire.

What they said..... plus also search CKPS (crankcase position sensor). Start w/ battery and alternator first, and the connections and voltage. You can search, but i think your battery under load should should be 14.1 volts or so. No load i am not sure.

and how to check alternator.... I dunno. If I am wrong...... i will be corrected.... and that is a OK with me.

How long have M & S been harrasing you? Truck ever not started? has truck ever died whilst driving?

Well I had tested battery and altenator, the altenator was reading good the battery was a little low but the tech said there was a minor power drain somewhere he couldnt tell where(discount auto tech) the CEL went away that very day and all seem ok for about 4-5 dayz and then dash lights out ,back taillights out and problematic shifting out of park, even when out of park, Reverse wouldn"t engage.
It seems just when your proudest of your truck and that its been trouble free for awhile ya end up jinxing yourself somehow!!!
I want to resolve this problem,so i can feel comfortable going somewhat longer distances ,than to just work and back.
I will check battery again tonitesee what it reads though maybe its as simple as that _ get a new one( new one every year). thanks for the input much appreciated! K~

My thoughts are leaning towards NOT CKPS. Seems a bad CPKS will kill truck whilst driving..... Also will not start intermittently with bad CPKS.

I would not think an alternator would take that long to take a dump either??????? (3 months)

Grounds.... battery (voltage).... alternator.... crud on cables...etc.

WAIT.... you go thru a battery every year?????? That aint right!

Do you have a trailer package/wiring harness? I had a tow package on my 2000 DII, and I had some problems with the harness wiring. It was drawing power and making my lights do weird things, but never to the extent that you seem to be experiencing. Just a guess

Very similar issues ... flashing S&M lights, sometimes would lock up in 1 gear, etc ... always happened when moderate to sever off road. Also the radio would sometimes die or jump stations when I turned on the head lights ...figured a electrical problem duh! Cleaned all the ground straps near the battery& fuse box (close to battery).

Completely eliminated all above issues ...everything good for 9 months now.
