Stick a fork in them they are done. Another victim of GMs incompetance, must be part of the new Volt marketing plan...86 all of the competition even if you own it. We are lucky to have our Indian masters, the same fate could have awaited land rover had the timing of the deal been a little later.

GM = general malaise

Hyundai copies everyone else.

I still like the post GM Saabs, even the newer lines are OK, but their quirkiness faded when GM bought them. I've owned an '87 900s, '97 900se Turbo, and a 2003 9-5 Turbo Wagon. I really liked all of them, and unless we find a 3 Series BMW Wagon for a realistic price, we'll probably go back to a Saab wagon.

By the way, nothing ever really went bad on any of the Saabs, they were all very reliable, fun to drive, quick little cars.

and the hoods quit tilting forward;)

That's right!

I had a 82 4d turbo, an 87 4d S, and an 88 turbo conv.
Loved all of them and their ugliness; never liked anythin after the body change.

I loved the ignition down in the center console, too.
Do they still do that?

I don't know never pay much attention to Saab after they are 9-3 and 9-5.

Think about it more, those factory fitted tinted window is pretty nice too, I guess it is due to the snow reflection in Sweden, and the 900 convertible got a glass rear window, rather than those cheesy plastic. When those 900 conv were out, people just love it over here, lots of yellow ones around the street.

Once they became GM-ized, that went out the window. All later ones had dash or column mounted keys.

Good riddance... Saabs are no different from any of the other crap that GM offers, you may as well buy a Saturn... The old Saabs were alright though.

What does Obama have against Saab? You'd think that he would keep them going if only to save the jobs. The hope and change surely didn't work out well for those workers at Saab that now report to Obama (for the time being obviously).
