Safari Gard rear bumper

Hi

I bought a D2 with a safari gard rear bumper. I am looking to tow with it and the previous owner obviously did as it has the wiring all ready. But I am a little confused b/c the pin hole to hold the ball mount to the bumper goes "up and down" instead of "side to side" so I don't know how to hook it up. Am I missing something or am I stuck with drilling a hole into the ball mount?

You could get a three ball hitch that has a vertical pin hole.

I didn't think those bumpers were meant for towing but instead a recovery point?

I wouldn't tow much with that setup, but I suppose you could depending on the way it attaches.

One of my customers that buys and sells Rovers has replaced 3-4 Safari Gard units with mine for that very reason. My bumpers were designed with protection AND towing in mind, not as an after-thought.

Search for Greg Davis rear bumper and you'll see what I mean. My receivers are Class III, integrated into the bumper itself, and attach to the rear crossmember where the factor hitch attached.
