Well, I was all psyched to finally order a nice overlander rack for my p38.. when i come to find out that atlantic british is fresh out of them.. and they doubt they will ever have them again as safety devices is apparently undergoing some money issues? But um.. anyway.. I was curious as to what other rack options are out there for a p38.. I know of the hannibal rack which i guess is the closest thing to an overlander.. but.. maybe someone has some pretty pictures of it without a tent? thanks!

There are some pics of the hannibal on their website:

The safety devices rack pops up on ebay once in a while. I really like the lines of the safety devices rack compared with the hannibal, which looks more utilitarian.

Hey Mike - I recently went through the process of getting a SD rack for my P38. My first choice was Rover Connection, since they were selling them for about $300 less than everyone else. They didn't have any and had no idea if or when they would ever have any more. But they did have the ladders in stock.

Expedition Exchange had some, but they needed to be shipped from the east coast (I'm west coast). Shipping charges would be about $300 for me. However that could work out good for you. But at least they had some, and as far as I know, they were the only place who had any that I could find.

In the end I spent the money on re-doing my suspension.

Speaking of Alan....do you have any plans on designing a rack for the P38?

Things are going good, turnaround is still a few weeks. Hard to juggle a real job and a fun job building them for people.

No plans for designing a rack at this time, but I do have a tube bender, if I could only find the time. You guys might want to contact http://www.northwestparts.com/VoyagerRacks.htm to see if they could design a knock off of the safety devices P38 rack seeing that the avaliabiltiy of the safety devices one might be in the meantime non-existant. I have read that they will be setting up shop in Poland? to start production again, but who knows when that will happen.

Yeah the SD rack follows and hugs the roofline much better than the hannibal rack does. If you get a SD rack and aren't planning on using the light tabs I would highly recommend getting the air dam for the SD rack or making your own. The wind noise with no lights or air dam is truely deafening.

Hey Alan one of these days when I get the $$$ or whenever another idiot hits me and says "I didn't see your bright yellow Range Rover" I'm going to grab one of your custom bumpers:cool: I now live in Houston/Katy and I see that White Gold Range Rover with one of your custom bumpers on it every once in a while. I think he doesn't live to far off of Barker Cypress, which is right up the street from me.

I contacted Northwest Parts as well about doing a rack for a P38. They said they would, but they needed a P38 for a length of time to do testing on. They didn't have one, so they haven't designed a rack yet.

Tad,

That would be Rob, I believe he runs with the Houston Land Rover Club, he has a set of my sliders and front bumper. You might want to try and hook up with them.

The picture you attached is one from a customer in North Carolina.

Yeah I saw a few pictures of his rig on the HLRC website as well. I believe they go out near Columbus, TX where they share the off-roading trips with a Houston Hummer dealership.
