Here is a shitty video showing some crab walk - only on purpose, and on the front axle, yet showing one benefit of the selectable locker. You may have to watch the video several times to see what I'm getting at, but the commentary is good.
In this instance the mud was super slimy. We were all having issues making a right turn out of the creek to come up the hill. The front wheels only wanted to push and traction was minimal.
Here, I unlocked the t-case, pulled the e-brake, locked the front axle, turned the wheel and stabbed the gas. By unlocking the t-case and pulling the e-brake I created a pivot point. The front crabbed over to the right and I was able to release the e-brake and climb out where I had a little more meat to bite into. This was SCARR 2010ish.
