do a search here. there's some info on media blasting and different agents to use (sand, walnut shells, plastic beads or soda). I don't recommend sand because of the damage it could do. I'd rather use soda beads or walnut shells. Wear protective gear. That shit hurts when you hit your bare skin.

The first time you sandblast something and it comes perfectly clean and looking like it was primed with metalic primer, you will be hooked.

I have one of those units. It will work, but it is certainly a huge inconvenience. You basically build a plastic enclosure where you get in with the part and blast away. This allows you to reuse the media. If you have the space, get a cabinet. You will need to do one end of the bumper at a time but it is worth it. Once you get it you will be sandblasting everything you need to strip, not to mention the free beer you get for letting your buddy's use your setup :D

Good media will bring a smile to your face. Black beauty, Black diamond, Black magic, I think it is about the same thing. The crystaline chunks can be reused without degradation in performance. Damaging a bumper is not a concern. If you could damage it with blasting media, trust me, you don't want it.

Sand goes beyond not being recommended. Google up silicosis and you'll see what I mean. I read about it years ago and the words 'irreversible lung disease' still stick to mind.

Check around in your area and see if there is a professional. Here in Columbus, there is a guy who will blast anything for $55 an hour.

funny thing is....i tell them on the phone i have a winch bumper, rear bumper, and rock sliders and they still cant give a quote, WTF?

im going to continue searching, and if nothing comes up, then put together my own

thanks for the insight, is it a 1 man shop? or a company that focuses on metal work and blasting?
