Scanguage for a 96d1

I hear a lot of scanguage talk from people on here but it seems as if its all D2 owners. Is there any real benefit of a scanguage on a d1? I've got a cheaper mac obd2 code reader that works fine but do like some of the features on the scanguage.

Do any d1 owners use this and have any features functions that don't work?

You have a 96, isn't it not untill 97 that they came out with OBDII?

Also I use my scangauge and love it but it could be SO much better. Im not sure if its just my vehicle [wouldn't be surprised] but I met one other guy who had same issue [mpg]

MPG is WAYY off[ 1300 mpg]
Transmission Temp Doesn't work...
Actually let me just tell you what DOES work.

Throttle Position
Load
Timing Retard
Water Temperature
Air Intake Temperature
Speed
RPM
VOLTS
Distance
Time

Honestly thats about all that works

Storm,

Per U.S. requirements all 1996 vehicles were required to have OBD2.

Thanks for the heads up on what works on yours. I'll probably grab one of these and try it out.

Is there any programming ect that you can get any more features out of the d1's?

I've tried several ScanGauges on my D1 (sent 'em back, got another under 'warranty'), but none would display the MPG correctly, though everything else works just fine. I find that the gauge function is the most useful part of ScanGauge, in that you can read the actual coolant temp, volts, etc.

Cheers

There is a section in the Scangage manual about calibrating the MPG, you need to follow those steps. Without that it is taking a best guess at what MPG is.

I did that. Quite a few times and to the letter each time...but it still wouldn't calibrate correctly. My Disco is the earliest North American-spec vehicle with OBDII and the 4.0 (engine serial number is 000000017), so there's probably some sensor or sub-routine that was updated later. Neither the original ScanGauge nor its replacement worked with the MPG function. Otherwise, it's a good bit of kit.

"Other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how did you enjoy the play?"

This is not the fix, I had the exact same issues they gave me a new one no differnece..

It will read 1300MPG then you try to adjust it to 1900% and it will read about 80-100MPG

then you try to recalibrate to the EXACT amount and it will not move .1gallon in 10mins of holding the increase button down. By here its so out of wack it would probably take a day to increase it 5 gallons
