Ok guys, I guess I just don't know a thing about Discos :(

It rained hard last night and this caused lots of large puddles to form on the rode. All the other cars out there were going through them fine. Even all of the sedans. So I went through them too. On the first puddle before I was even ought of it the SE light started blinking and then stuck solid :(

My Disco still runs fine and has no problems starting. Nothing feels unusaly about my Disco, but yet the SE light is on.

Anybody have any clues as to what would have caused the SE light to go on?

Also after reading the here I fear the dealership, should I take my Disco to a indi tech? Or is the dealership fine?

Does anybody know of any indi techs in the houston area that are know to be good and honist?

-Zeek.

For the time being, just try to clean up/dry the connections to the under-bonnet 'brain'. Don't know what vehicle you have, but the brain box on my '96 is subject to splash - and spontaneous/erroneous codes. Use some WD/40 (the *only* thing I use if for these days - WD=wire drying or water displacement) and make and break the contacts on the multi-pin plug several times to clean up the contacts.

Thanks for the reply, I will look in to doing this.

From my understanding, onc ethat light goes off you have to have it reset?

Also I ahve a 2003 Disco (SE)

Either go to Autozone and borrow their OBD II code reader, or even buy a cheap one for yourself.

You'll get an error code that can be diagnosed by folks on this forum, or via a code search on Google.

That may assist you in pinpointing the fault.

You can then use the OBD II reader to reset the light for you, and clear the code.

After comeing out of work the SE light was off. What does this mean? No problems?

Should I still have it looked at or get a code reader?

Also, how can I prevent damaging my Disco when going through large puddles. I live in Houston, lots of large puddles when it rains hard. Most of them are just at the curbe, some times higher.

Are there any places I can read about driving my Disco ?

if the light is off....let it go!

do a search on waterproofing or something....this has been discussed many times.
