Hey my d2 has 90k on it. The engine seems to run strong, but it idles a little rough around 550 rpm i'd say. when i turn it on it idles at about 1250 rpm, but after driving it the idle is around 550. i have a SES light on for MAF and 02 sensors. I am going to replace all of those parts on tuesday and am wondering if now would be a good time to use some seafoam. i've read that seafoam can crap out your 02s so i was thinking now would be a good time to do so. i dont know much about seafoam just looking for advice

While I know a lot of folks here use seafoam directly onto the intake, I was "strongly" discouraged from doing that (LR tech off the clock on a social gathering). Instead, he suggested running a full bottle of it on a full tank of gas. He was also addamant about having a "clean" or "newer" fuel filter if I was going to do that...with a new filter just installed, I did use seafoam through the gas tank, but not directly onto the engine...just my own experience... I have a 98 D1 and have used several bottles through my plenum breather hose. No probs on my O2 Sensors either. Do a search on Seafoam and you'll find most every scenario involving the uses/benefits of the stuff.

Use in moderation and the suggestion to use in the gas could yield results too. I replaced my PCV oil separator and hoses and that helped my rough idle as well, that could be half of your problem.

I just did it in my 97 with 120k on it today. Holy Smoke Batman!!! I ran about 1/2 can through it and put the other in the crank before my oil change. Anyway as I got the last bit of seafoam in the plenum I looked and my Mom's Culdesack was full of smoke. I live in an apartment so I took my Christmas break to come work in my Moms drive. When I started it up again I covered my Moms Neighbors house in smoke. Nothing says Merry Christmas more then smoking out your neighbors on Christmas Morning.

I've done it on several trucks, all with great improvement and no O2 sensor problems. Just got a 1990 Range Rover this weekend, it's gonna get the same treatment.

On my 95 Disco and 94 Defender, it made the idle smoother and on the 95 and stopped the problem it had where it would cut off when switching from reverse to drive when backing out in the morning. On the D90 it cured the problem of hesitating when hitting the throttle hard. The Disco started popping O2 sensor codes afterwards, but after clearing them twice they never came back and it's been a year.
