Seat Belt Issue

Hey guys,

Recently, my passenger side seat belt (97 D1) has started giving us fits. When you pull on it, it locks up...the slooower you go the more that will come out but it very rarely lets out enough to connect to the buckle. Needlss to say, it is really annoying. Is there an adjustment that can be made (presumably to the seat belt tensioner) or do I need to make a visit to the parts wanted section for something??

on my '96 it was doing this too until it stoped working all together. just bought a used one from Will and was done with it. saw no adjustment on them.

no adjustments and its pretty much a sealed component. mine died by filling the car with muddy water in a horrific 4 wheeling mishap. after the car drained, the silt gummed up the tensioner. i bought a new one from the dealer. a ridiculous $150 or something. try to find a used one if you can. i wonder if the rear ones will fit the front. i happened to see them today while i took my rear panels out. (electrical problem im sure i will start a thread on) if they do, then you at least have one until you find one.

Does anyone know if you can use the old belt even if you buy a new seat belt assembly. I have the black and grey checkered belt that was in the XD and I seem to only be able to find black replacement belts. Or does anyone know where you can buy a whole new belt but with the black and grey checkered pattern. Its for a passenger front seat belt of a Disco I. By the way the belt has locked up and won't come out. Any help with this would be great. Thanks

My passenger side seatbelt will lock up if you pull it all the way out, then you have to open the door to retract it.
