securing RTE slider step inside the Disco

I have the RTE sliders with extensions and the matching step that slides in and gives you a good platform to stand on and acess stuff on the roof. But the step sat in my garage until recently because I did not like the idea of a big hunk of steel sitting loosely in the cab.

Pic below is what I came up with to adress this, hopefully someone else out there is looking for a similar solution and this will give you some ideas.

On the DI rear passenger seat there are two metal frame parts that are visible. These consist of some angle welded to the tube frame and thus the whole assembly is thick enough to allow for some threads to be created. I drilled and tapped these, cut a steel strap to span them, and bolted the strap into the holes on the seat frame. I then put some rivnuts on the strap and drilled 2 holes in the step to allow some threaded rod to pass through the step and into the rivnuts. Then I peened some wingnuts onto the end of the threaded rods. It is nice and secure now, pretty much out of the way, and easy to get to when needed.
