1979 Series III Pickup

This is the one that you have been looking for!

Restored and then imported by German fellow who has just moved back to the continent. Sadly he must part with this great Series III.

Properly restored, galvanized everything, good paint, overdrive, hydraulic winch, hoop set, canvas, RHD, 2.25 gasoline, four speed, the works.

There was a birds nest in the dash which is rare so I figure that adds at least $14k to the price. Seriously this truck was restored meticulously, everything is well done but it is a working man's series III not a Belargio defender red leather pro athlete's wife's puke mobile so if a little authenticity scares you off then that is your Casper milquetoast problem. I cry not for your manhood.

Dan,

You've grown soft an doughy from the likes of the Posh spice rovers of today with their can bus trickery and comfort zones. This is a man's vehicle, built by men for men. William Wallace would laugh at how pommey the interior of this pick up is. He would take the seats out and place his naked buttocks directly on the seat box and tell you that upholstery is for loyalists and page 3 girls. This is the kind of Spartan vehicle that Hagrid would drive. This was made when men would operate machinery by moving metal rods that protruded directly into the whirring gears of the transmission. When Lucas was all you needed to know about electrickery and sheep could be quite comforting.

You can tack on $5k to $10k to the price of any car when it's sold by a place with the word "motorcar" in it.

Which definition of the word "meticulously" are you using?

Which definition of the word "meticulously" are you using?

The restoration was meticulous, it was also done four years ago. The owner had the vehicle stored and that is when the bird made a nest, there were two fledglings when I saw them. The eventually left the truck and are living happily ever after. I could tell you they were blue birds like the bluebird of happiness and that all that drive or ride in the vehicle will have good luck but the fledglings were not blue, they were brown.

This truck makes me happy to drive, I smile when I start it up and it pleases me that I know what all those things sticking out of the floor do to make the truck go. You know there is something special about cranking open the dash vents and driving in a real Landy on a hot day, the sound it makes is pleasing to the ear and people always smile and give me a thumbs up as they pass. So basically you guys can low ball and gripe all you want and I will continue to enjoy this truck and simply put... you will not.

So I suggest you reach down into your drawers and check to see that you still have balls and if you do then make an offer that is closer to $20k than $6k and take into account whatever a birdsnest and mismatched seats does to the value of this wonderful pickup truck that they are no longer making and that is getting harder and harder to find. If it your offer is insulting then I will insult you back and if it is a good offer then you can smile and drive it and it will make you happy just as it did for the owner and for me.

Dan,

Remember this is a rare Superlegerra model, if I recall the door handles, electric window, AC, stereo delete was a very pricey option but saved a total of 15 kilos which placed the 0-100 kph time down to 29.7 seconds making it the first series to break the half minute barrier.

On a side note my wife insists I install a fisher price steering wheel play set on the left side to make the passenger feel more proactive while riding in it, it would also freak people out at traffic lights when she honks the little red squeaker horn.

This truck was the subject of a body off restoration. It has a new galvanized chassis, it did not come with one. The bed caps, door parts and numerous other details were galvanized as well. Most of the fasteners were replaced with stainless steel hardware. The light sockets were all replaced. All of the old paint was stripped to metal. The color was changed. The transmission and transfer case were rebuilt. The suspension was refurbished. The only difference between the one you are showing as an example and this truck is that the interior upholstery was not replaced with new seats, the dash is original as are the gauges and the interior lining. Unfortunately the interior lining has suffered some discoloration and the seats are mis matched but I can assure you that this truck was restored by a very meticulous German.

This is how I see the correct use of verbiage relating to the subject at hand.

Original- never repainted, just maintained, original patina and wear over time.
Repainted - exterior paint resprayed
refurbished - parts of vehicle are replaced to resemble new state, body on chassis
restored - completely disassembled, returned to new or like new condition
Resto mod- parts of car are replaced by new technology to improve drivability and reliability

If you care to make a reasonable offer pending pictures of the restoration you may do so otherwise this horse has been beaten to death and I will entertain no more bullshit on the subject.

Well! Why didn't you say it was restored by a meticulous German earlier?! That changes everything!
