Selling a truck on Dweb is like wrestling with a pig...all you get is dirty and the pig likes it.

I usually don't like it when people "pick" at others' ads but......

If I was going to ask $20k for this truck and I was "meticulous" I'd do a little more work on it.

1) Knock the rust off the guide bar for the capstan winch
2) Remove the "steer skull" on the grill
3) Knock the small pressure dent out in the passenger side wing front (It looks a tad "wavy)
4) Re-paint the wheels
5) Get the tires mounted with white lettering on the inside (NOTHING looks worse on an older Rover!)
6) At the very least I'd try and re-dye the center console and maybe dash -That's not a $20,000 dash.
7) Knock the rust off of the screen hinges on the firewall
8) Replace the pedal pads
9) Make sure there aren't any dangling wires on the bottom of the dash
10) Not sure what's going on the top rear of the cab over the back glass but I'd fix it

None of the above costs much money and it would go a long way towards inspiring some confidence in a buyer. It would make the truck "look" better. It would also make it look like an honest sale at an honest market price and not look like someone trying to sell some hype. I'd also put some pics up of the engine compartment.

As it site now - In all honesty, it looks like an $8k to $9500 truck.

And like I've said - If I want top dollar for a car I NEVER put it on an enthusiast site! That's not gonna work. Too many people know what is actually going on with the car and what it's "really" worth! Look at at a Mechum auction - A buddy of mine sold a '69 Camaro w/hide-aways to a buddy for around $30k. It was sold on Mechum maybe a month later for almost $50k! That car was a $30k Camaro aaaaaaaaaaall day long to someone that knew Camaros.

Scott, you should've known better than to post that here.

Take some more pictures and list it where some dentist will see it.

Stu,

I put it here on the off chance that someone who is not merely a cyber-wheeler/fucking-gods-gift-to-everything-dickhead might see it and I have had a few legitimate inquiries for the truck. It has been a long time since I peed in the pool over here. I must admit when I left here and went to the Porsche boards some years ago they were not ready for my Dweb freewheeling punchups but I calmed down over time and learned to be civil again.

Emmodg: Thanks so much for breaking your "I don't usually pick" rule just for me. I will do a proper detailing of the interior and then ask that you will all kindly grade me on my performance right after I get back from Vegas next week. It means so much to me to have all of you approve. When I have completed your list are you going to make an offer?

Nope. Not looking to buy a Series III.

You put a $20,000 old Land Rover up on DWEB and you DIDN'T expect critique, criticism, query, or comment? Really? Ebay is your place if you just want to sell it for as much as you can without any more effort on your part.

Emo,

$20k asking price for an historic Land Rover when the average depreciation on a new Land Rover per year exceeds the price of this vehicle should not be an affront to any of your sensibilities. If you have no interest in making an offer then you are simply pimping me and are wasting my time. Thank you for playing, you are excused.

I'm only wasting your time when you get but hurt enough to read my shot and respond. You are wasting your own time. No one makes you read these posts. You don't pay to read these posts. You're trying to sell a vehicle on an enthusiasts board whose price is simply over reaching. Period. If you're time is so valuable quit reading my posts, quit responding and "pimp" that over-priced truck on eBay! Fuck dude! You're wasting every sensible person heres' time! It's a cool truck but it's not worth $20k in here. What in the hell is historic about a Series III truck? Do they have ultra low build numbers? Did someone sign a treaty in it? Relax.

I like it. I'll trade you my meticulously restored, one of a kind and customized 1995 Discovery 1 Soft Top. I won't even ask about the corrosion under the diamond plate or why an originally Italian vehicle happens to be RHD.
