got it! pedal height adjustment. also with the thick acoustic mat in there, pedal wasent going all the way to the floor. mats about 1/2 thick.

Mine is in the form of a coating of mud on the outside of the footwell.
I'm just jealous. I saw how expensive the neato mats were from British Pacific and decided that for now the old thick military undercoating would suffice. But boy does that mat look like it would add some huge comfort value. Hmph! Comfort is overrated...that's what I just keep telling myself anways. hehe
