Serpentine belt question

Anyone ever have the belt put shavings all over engine compartment ? I just put on a new one and it seems it getting shaved somewhere but it rides in the center of all the pulleys. I also took it off and checked to see if tensioner pulley was loose/wobbling(had it happen on another vehicle) but it's fine and I'm stumped. I don't want to fill my new alt. with it and have that go south on me. Any ideas

Something seizing up? Spin everything and see how the bearings areAlt, H2O pump PS pump etc

make sure it's routed right if not it might be rubbing on the fan shroud.

Could be a busted motor mount too thus why it's rubbing on the shroud, etc.

Well I poked around and found that the fan shroud has been hitting belt so I painted it red to see if it marks the belt. What I believe is doing it is a sagging hood liner. As I was looking a liner I also saw a mark from the power steering reservoir cap so I think this may be the culprit. Thanks for all the suggestions

make sure it's routed right if not it might be rubbing on the fan shroud.

Yup, that's my guess. Post a pic and we'll tell ya if it's routed right.
