I?m working on 60k mile maintenance for my ?99 D2 w/ACE w/air, which calls for replacement of the serpentine fan belt at this interval. The manual calls for removal of the viscous fan to replace the belt. Is this really necessary? Can you replace the belt without fan removal?

I recently found several old threads on this topic if you need in depth instructions. There is plenty of info; however, you can change the belt without taking the fan off. You can also get a belt diagram for the correct routing from Atlantic British's website. If you decide to take the fan off I believe it takes a 36mm wrench. That's what I used and a strap wrench. Very easy to do. Good Luck
